Sometimes I’ll see some internet marketing guru or a wanna-be guru stating that there’s no need to write more than just a few articles for top rankings.

Their reasoning for this is that submitting an articles to authority-type article directories like Ezine Articles is all you need to get top rankings for a particular term.

While that could be true, here’s something you should consider:

Do you want YOUR WEBSITE to be top-ranked for a term or do you want SOMEONE ELSE’S WEBSITE to be top-ranked for a certain term?

With a little effort you can build your assets up while producing pages that convert better and that’s a truly valuable asset you’ve just built there.

When you’re doing mass article marketing submissions with services like Unique Article Wizard, there’s always the uncertainty about how well your semi-unique content is going to work for you.

So what’s the duplicate content penalty, if anything at all?

The penalty will be delivered or incurred when there’s duplicate content on the same domain name, that’s it…

Success with article marketing can be as easy or as hard as you make it.

Many people spend more time searching for that Holy grail of niches, the untapped, hungry desperate crowd of buyers just dying to whip out their PayPal info or checkbooks, or wallets or purses or whatever…

The amazing thing many people don’t realize is that you could find a niche like this but your approach could be all wrong, therefore your dominance of this untapped niche may not pay off for you…

You need to understand marketing concepts and your niche before you do anything else, then it just becomes a matter of getting as many of the right type of “eyeballs” to view your content and sales pitches.

It’s a common misconception that untapped niches are gold mines…

These niches are probably untapped because there’s no hungry, desperate crowd waiting for you and your solutions.

Yes, you might find some micro-niche that is not currently being heavily marketed to, but it is most likely a sub-niche of a major competitive niche.

So what are you supposed to do here?

It’s always been my opinion that you go after the heavily competitive markets with an eye for targeting the sub niches first, then work your way up to the more general and more competitive niches.

This is article marketing simplified here because you can target the microniches using long tails phrases and keywords with article submissions, then as you start ranking well for those terms, slowly increase your web presence market share by slowly rising in the rankings for the more competitive terms.

For example, weight loss and losing weight is a major general heavily competitive niche, but a subniche would be something like a certain method for losing weight, like a calorie shifting diet plan.

So you target this sub phrase and sub topic first, then slowly move your way into more general terms

If you want to make it big in article marketing, you have to be aware of its many myths and misconceptions spreading throughout the web.

Below are common article marketing myths that need to be run to ground:

MYTH #1: Article marketing is not much of a help.

You get one-way backlinks to your site by writing articles and submitting them to article directories. This task is undertaken by a resource box where you to tell something about yourself and provide one or more than one URLs. The one-way backlinks you get with article marketing help you increase your link popularity and be a source of some of the most targeted traffic you can get. By writing and submitting quality articles you can help establish your expertise in your chosen niche.

MYTH #2: Submitted and reprinted articles do not offer your business any help because they only get indexed as supplemental pages.ny

As long as you write and submit quality articles and get accepted by a large ezine with half a million subscribers, there are bigger chances your articles can get a top 10 listing in major search engines, not just as supplemental pages.

MYTH #3: Submitting your article again and again creates duplicate content and search engines will penalize you.

One of the biggest article marketing secrets seems to be the truth about duplicate content and article marketing. According to Google, “Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar.” Duplicate content is two webpages that are around 70% similar, not two webpages that have similar text on them. It is those malicious duplicate content that WILL suffer a duplicate content penalty.

If you try to market yourself by following these article marketing myths, you’re likely to make some serious mistakes. Article marketing, when done correctly together with search engine optimization, can drive lots of free targeted traffic to your site and eventually generate sales.

Before you read this post I just want to let you know that I’ll be referring to Unique Article Wizard as UAW and Submit Your Article as SYA for easier writing.

Hopefully this makes for easier reading for you…

Recently, I was reading an article on Jack Humpreys Friday traffic report about article marketing syndication and in his post he basically says that the whole “spinning of articles to avoid dupe content penalties is “kool-aid drinker” type of thinking to paraphrase him.

He opines that you’ll never get 10 of your article titles to show up in the search engines no matter how much you spin them, and the real value to article syndication is getting other publishers to syndicate your content, not just having your article titles showing up.

He’s right, in a way…

You won’t get your titles displayed on thousands of sites no matter how many “unique” article spins you create, but SYA doesn’t really do anything different from what UAW does.

Submit your Article claims to create unique versions of your article to send out for syndication purposes, and I’m sure they do, but I seriously doubt that the quality of sites is an different from the quality of sites that syndicate your article via the UAW network.

As a matter of fact, I would even go out on a limb here and say that the publishers syndicating the SYA articles are also the same people receiving free content via the Unique Article Wizard plugin.

So what makes SYA better than UAW?

From what I can see, nothing, really…

What makes UAW better than SYA?

The ability to time your submissions and schedule them so your articles get syndicated and re-published at a more measured rate.

The ability to input/spin multiple urls into each article so that you can link to multiple urls from the same article.

In other words, if you wrote one article for UAW and SPUN the URLS portion of the article to include 5 or 6 different sites you wanted to link back to from the article, you can do that with UAW submissions.

This is yet another way to take full advantage of their spinning capabilities and no other services offer this feature.

What are the major article directories you should manually publish articles to?

I get this question a lot of times so I figured I’d address this via a blog post…

There are 3-4 major article directories that are worth the manual effort to submit articles to…

1. EzineArticles.com
2. FindArticles.com
3. Articlesbase.com
4. Goarticles.com

Generally speaking EzineArticles, A.K.A. EZA is still the king when it comes to article directories whose published articles get the best rankings.

But you don’t need me to do that for you…

Prove it to yourself by typing in your niche keyword-based search queries and see which article directories show up before the others on a consistent basis.

In most cases EZA will be the first article directory to appear, but there are some article directories that do better than others for certain niches.

But why would anyone waste their time with manual article submissions when Unique Article Wizard sends unique versions of your articles to thousands of directories and websites?

#1- Because directories like EZA have strict quality control, only accept unique content, and your published articles will rank well if you do things correctly.

#2 – Because Unique Article Wizard doesn’t submit your articles to all 3-4 of these major article directories

Therefore there is still value to doing manual article marketing submissions if you don’t put a lot of value in your time and effort…

The fact remains that getting backlinks from these article dirrctories decreases in effectiveness with each new backlink you get from them.

The FACT is, some of the 3-4 directories will require that your articles be unique content which means you have to write yet another article plus go through another manual submission process.

On the other hand, with Unique Article Wizard, you write ONE article and the you’re done, ONE-and-DONE-done…

ONE “UAW” article submission = hundreds OR even thousands of backlinks and extremely deep and wide article syndication

My recommendation has always been to:

• go with the “hot hand” and manually submit an article to EZA only (forget using the other major directories)
• then use your EZA article as the basis for your article submission via Unique Article Wizard.
• You can even link to your EZA articles from your UAW articles, in case you find yourself competing with other EZA articles for top SERPs.
